The long-term vision of Resilient Trust is to strengthen the backbone of European’s economy – SMEs – to strengthen the entire supply chain. This project will boost SMEs capabilities to develop secure and safe cyber physical systems (CPSs) in different domains. The assembled partners of the microelectronics industry will focus on creating integrity and identity in the lower levels of the processing chain by combining RESILIENCE with TRUST.

The project will enable an end-to-end protection along the processing chain of CPS by incorporating the security requirements of higher-level applications. Protection in this regard means to think of security holistically instead of fragmenting it to many pieces and to develop solutions in isolated chambers.

The Resilient Trust consortia leverages its capacity to produce high-quality microelectronics and develop resilient digital solutions, aligned with the European digital strategy to boost the main drivers towards Europe´s digital sovereigntyand the EU SME strategy to empower SMEs to reap the benefits of the digital transition. Resilient Trust builds a blueprint for CPS’:

  • RESILIENCE: The consortia aims to build a wall of resilience around the edge operation of CPS. The wall exists of different security measures to address critical security concerns derived from various use cases. Its intention is to keep the IoT device steerable during potential attacks. This is important for safety and business critical applications in which attacks can have devastating impact on human life.
  • TRUST: Trust on the other hand should be established in and across CPS. The vision is to establish an immutable identification of edge devices. An immutable identification of every network partner and communication is key for deep and holistic trust. This enables i.e., the trusted use of edge Artificial Intelligences (AI), the trusted update of AI models, and firmware over the air. Providing such trusted technologies adapted to the demands of user industries and people through new electronic components and systems, software, and smart integration into digital value chains will help to strengthen Europe's ability to innovate.
